Raining in Maleny

Raining in Maleny

Its raining yet again in our glorious town of Maleny..

Its about this time each year that the locals start using the name Ma-rainy! We are averaging an inch per day…which doesnt seem like a huge amount if your a Southerner…but at this time of year…we’ve had that for 6 straight months…enough already…OK Ive had my winge!!

But how to keep warm…

This is the time of year people often question their commitment to Raw Food and you may notice that some of the gurus of the industry are turning to high raw as a solution! Well you can certainly do this, a high raw diet will certainly add more value to your diet than a Standard Western Diet…(I love the acronym for the American Standard Diet..SAD, says a lot doesnt it!!) But just make sure you stay with the balance being more in favour of raw…have salad with the Dahhl you cook for dinner or add raw veggies to that rice dish you prepare..and make sure you still get the benefits of variety. That said there are so many ways to ‘warm” up a raw food diet. You can add spices designed to warm your system, cayenne, ginger, chilli etc. and you can of course warm your foods to above room temperature and have the cosy feel of a warm dish. Try warm chia oatmeal for breakfast. It will warm you to your toes!!

We live on a blustery old hill with so much wind and exposure to the elements, one of my favourite pass times this time of year is to plan ways to warm us up…it just takes creativity and commitment…have a go and Id love to hear your ideas, let share the warmth around!

Love and laughter
